2018 Tax Season-Are You Ready?

United Way Offers Free Tax Preparation
To help ensure that Kay County’s working families are filing for the tax credits they have earned and to help families save in filing fees, the United Way of Ponca City Financial Stability Initiative is again operating a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site. Families who make a household income of less than $54,000 can access the VITA site and have their taxes prepared for free. Barbara Nickles, VITA Coordinator will start preparing taxes on February 5th by appointment, UW will start taking appointments on January 29th. 

Items to prepare to bring: Driver’s License/State ID of Taxpayer & Spouse Social Security Cards and date of birth - of taxpayer/spouse & dependent’s that will be claimed on tax return. Taxes will not be prepared if ALL social security cards are not present. Last year’s tax return Any relevant income documents such as: W-2 1099 R, Social Security Statement, 1099 - INT - Bank interest, 1099 - DIV - Investment dividend, 1098 - T - Tuition & Scholarship Statement, 1099 - Unemployment Statement Mortgage Interest Statement/Real Estate Taxes Paid For direct deposit of refund bring banking information (account/routing numbers) *For married filing joint, both spouses must be present!* *No HSA *No more than 5 W2G’s To schedule an appointment, call 765-2476. The VITA site will remain open until April 9, 2018.
